Pet Health Check

Let’s ensure our pets receive regular health checkups.

At Japan Animal Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, we offer health checkups for dogs and cats, who are beloved family members to their owners. Unlike humans, animals cannot communicate when they are in pain, feeling unwell, or uncomfortable, so we recommend regular health checkups to ensure we don’t miss any “unspoken signs.”

Early detection and treatment are essential for keeping your beloved pets healthy and happy for as long as possible. We encourage you to consider health checkups, including blood tests, alongside your pet’s annual vaccinations and preventive care.

The Importance of Regular Health Checkups

Dogs and cats are said to age faster than humans, with one year for them being roughly equivalent to four years for us. Therefore, by conducting regular annual health checkups, any physical abnormalities can be detected early, allowing for prompt treatment. The later a disease is identified, the fewer treatment options may be available, increasing the burden on your beloved pet.

As pets age, their risk of illness also rises. For dogs and cats over six years old, an annual health check is highly recommended to help ensure their ongoing health and well-being.

What can be learned from a blood test?

In a blood test for pets, several key health indicators can be assessed. Blood tests provide essential information about major organs, such as the liver and kidneys, and can also measure glucose, cholesterol levels, and other substances to evaluate metabolic health. By analyzing blood cell counts and chemical levels, veterinarians can detect early signs of infections, anemia, inflammation, and other underlying health issues. This test is particularly useful for catching diseases in the early stages, making it an important part of regular health screenings to ensure long-term well-being for your pets.

Other Examination.

At JAH, in addition to blood tests, we also perform various other examinations and tests to help detect diseases early. We will suggest necessary tests based on the condition of each pet, so please feel free to contact us for further consultation.

X-ray Examination

This is performed to examine conditions related to bone diseases such as fractures, dislocations, and arthritis, as well as respiratory diseases like pneumonia and bronchitis, and the status of internal organs such as the heart, liver, and kidneys. Because it is digital, the radiation exposure is significantly reduced, allowing for stable and high-quality imaging.

Echo Examination

By irradiating ultrasound from outside the body, it is possible to see cross-sectional images that cannot be seen with X-rays. This is a safe and secure test with no side effects, and allows the condition of organs such as the heart to be confirmed in real time.

ECG

This procedure involves recording the electrical activity of the heart from the body surface as an electrocardiogram (ECG), allowing for the detection of the presence of heart diseases such as arrhythmias.
